Network insights

Gain detailed insights into the district heating network with our Energy Management System (EMS), EnergyGrip. By measuring at various layers and nodes in the district heating network, insights are obtained into the total supply and demand, and detailed analyses can be performed. Within the EnergyGrip platform we developed, it is possible to generate alerts triggered by preset thresholds. This allows the district heating network to be intelligently controlled and optimized to minimize losses and match supply and demand more quickly. Additionally, faults are automatically identified, and you quickly gain insight into the exact location and size of the problem. This allows you to better deploy personnel and resources for a quick and efficient solution.

Detailed billing

Support your organization with a detailed and efficient billing process. EnergyGrip provides accurate data for better insights and optimization of the billing flow. Consumption information in the EnergyGrip dashboard can be easily implemented into existing billing packages via an API connection.

  • Better control of the billing flow
  • Insight at any time
  • Optimization based on reliable data

Cross-network compatibility

EnergyGrip can be easily linked to existing infrastructure or software packages via REST API. In many cases, data from EnergyGrip is linked to existing billing software. It is also possible to push specific information to the EnergyGrip platform to maximize the use of functionalities.

Accurate insights for end users

End users of district heating often have only one provider, which can lead to a feeling of powerlessness as they have no control over prices and no option to switch providers. Therefore, independent and detailed insights into their energy consumption are crucial.

Aurum offers a solution with EnergyGrip that also provides end users (consumers) with accurate and real-time insights into their energy consumption via an app. This consumer solution delivers detailed and up-to-date consumption data through a user-friendly app on the consumer’s mobile phone. This data allows consumers to better control, optimize, and save costs on their consumption. The transparency this app offers helps end users to be more conscious of their energy use and contributes to improved customer perception.

The energy app within EnergyGrip offers real-time data in a user-friendly environment and provides insights into consumption, savings opportunities, and cost reduction. These accurate and up-to-date data give end users the ability to effectively manage their energy consumption, despite the monopolistic nature of district heating networks.

Reliable data

Reliable, accurate, and up-to-date data such as flow and temperature are important for gaining control over the infrastructure of a district heating network. To guarantee this reliability, Aurum offers not only a platform but also an independent measurement solution with EnergyGrip. The basis of this measurement solution is a gateway marketed under the name Nextalink. The Nextalink, part of EnergyGrip, ensures that data can be measured independently of the brand or type of heat meter or heat delivery set. The Nextalink can be connected to almost any brand or type of heat meter (Kamstrup, Landis+Gyr), making it unnecessary to replace existing infrastructure. Additionally, various brands of heat delivery sets with an RS485 Modbus port can be connected to the Nextalink, enabling remote fault detection and the remote control of pumps or other settings. Our independent measurement chain ensures high data reliability.

We aim to guarantee 100% of the daily measurements by offering multiple communication channels, ensuring that data is always reliably and timely transmitted. This approach allows heat suppliers to confidently manage and optimize their networks, work more efficiently, and develop new services. The accurate and up-to-date data provided by EnergyGrip and Nextalink give heat suppliers the necessary insights to support their operational and strategic decisions.

Case study: Vattenfall

Using the building blocks of EnergyGrip, we provide Vattenfall with the billing data needed to create monthly invoices for Vattenfall’s customers in the Netherlands. Information from various brands of district heating meters (Kamstrup, Landis+Gyr) is accessed and made available on the EnergyGrip platform through a physical connection with the Nextalink (branded as Warmtelink for Vattenfall). The Warmtelink solution uses NB-IoT in combination with LTE-M (switched) from Vodafone to make the data available to Vattenfall and its customers. This data is also used to optimize the district heating network, provide information and warnings for predictive maintenance, and collect the information needed to inform consumers about their energy consumption and monthly bill. Over 100,000 connected meters are already operational.
